Area Guide Ads are Available in October for April Publication

Ad Copy Deadline is November 16, 2007

1. TYPES OF ADS: The format and text are set up in 1/8 page divisions (or multiples of 1/8 page).  You need to provide the following amount of text and graphic elements and we will construct your ad and provide you with a proof.

A. 1/8 page - approximately 4” wide X 2 ½” high, 75 to 100 words PLUS one graphic element - $375
B. 1/4 page - approximately 8” wide x 2 ½ high, 125 to 175 words PLUS one graphic element - $750
C. 1/2 page - approximately 8” wide X 5 " high, 175 to 240 words PLUS two graphic elements - $1,500
D. 3/4 page - approximately 8” wide X 7 ½” high, 300 to 350 words PLUS three graphic elements - $2,250
E. Full page - approximately 8” wide X 10" high, 300-500 words PLUS four graphic elements - $3,000
F. Full page display ad - must be provided camera ready - $4,000

2. LAYOUT ­ Ads are separated from each other by a decorative border that adds style and consistency to the layout.


A. Headline: For consistency and appearance, listings are introduced by the business name
in bold upper/lower case letters in black.
B. Sub-headline: (optional) A slogan or quote printed in black, bold, italic style of the text font
either following or beneath the business name.
C. Text: For both readability and consistency of style, all text is written in third person (for
examples see the current area guide) Text may be edited to fit. The editor will contact.
you regarding any major text editing in your listing
D. Leding off each ad will be the Business Name, Address, Phone'Fax numbers, E-Mail and Website concluding with the business hours. This information should correspond with the information you have indicated on your membership renewal.

3. GRAPHIC ELEMENTS – We prefer electronic images in jpeg, tiff, or eps formats, with a resolution of 300dpi. If you cannot furnish this, you may supply a full color camera-ready logo or photograph to be scanned and placed at the discretion of the editor. It is critical that the graphic element be of the highest quality to showcase your business at its best! Placement of the graphic element(s) is at the discretion of the editor but is usually in the upper right hand corner of the descriptive narrative.

    1. Addresses (periods not necessary)

      4. States - standard PO abbreviation - i.e., New York is NY

      1. Months - Jan., etc.
      2. Range - Jan.15 - Mar.12
      3. Year - 1870's
    3. Time: 10am-5pm
    4. a. Number of Months: one month; six months

  1. Avoid
    1. Using " !"  after words ending in " I " (i.e., Baseball ! )
    2. Starting a sentence with an Arabic number.
    3. Unless an official part of your business name, "&" should not be used in place of "and" (exception- map names where space is necessary).
    4. Using unusual capitalization or grammar.
    5. Please use no prices or coupons.
     
  2. Alphabetizing
    1. The definite articles "a", "an", and "the" will not be alphabetized.  The Business name will be alphabetized according to the first letter of the next word in the business name.
    2. Personal names used in the business name will be alphabetized by the surname of the individual,  unless indicated otherwise on the Marketing Agreement.
    3. We alphabetize by the legal or DBA name only. The business name may not be modified for the purpose of positioning in the Area Guide.
     
  3. Truth in "Advertising" Policy

All copy and graphics must be true. If you are not 3 minutes from Cooperstown, you cannot say you are. If you illustrate or photograph your property, please do not indicate something in the picture that is not true! Except when you receive an award, do not use superlatives such as "best" or "most".
