Four Great Reasons to Join the Chamber

Exposure * Education * Excellence * Effectiveness

Exposure: Showcase your business.

  • Our Area Guide - 140,000 copies of our Area Guide will be distributed this year and it is on our website.  This is the only comprehensive guide for the Cooperstown Area. which has members in five counties.   Advertising Style Guide is here .
  • Our Website - over ten million hits since its inception, we are averaging 360,000 hits a month.  Our website is the most comprehensive site about the Cooperstown Area on the internet.  We have members who will help you with your Web presence; they are listed here .
  • Room Availability System - the Room Availability System (instructions for members to participate are available from the Chamber office, this is a free online service and is utilized by visitors and the chamber staff to find rooms for any given day within the year).
  • Office Support - We have professional staff to assist callers and visitors at all times year round.  We are open seven days a week 10 hours a day in season and six days a week 8 hours a day off season.  Over 50,000 people physically visit us at our two sites and our e-mails and phone calls number in the thousands.  We pride ourselves on our personal service.
  • While not officially designated as such we are the de facto Otsego County/Cooperstown Area Visitor's and Convention Bureau.

Education: Stimulating programs for our members.

  • Business Seminars - a dedicated committee is reviewing materials from motivational speakers, state departments, and private entrepreneurial companies to present two-day long seminars each year in the spring and fall that will appeal to our diverse membership base.
  • Business Fairs - our Business Fairs have been great networking successes and we look forward to repeating this event on a bi-annual basis.
  • Hospitality Seminar and Business Showcase - an annual event co-hosted with the NYS Tourism Bureau.  Presents a humorous but serious message about the "how to's" of dealing with visitors! The Business Showcase allows new and veteran members to strut their stuff!
  • SCORE - every third Thursday the Service Corp of Retired Executives has a representative in the office from 12:30-4:30. They are here to provide counseling for small businesses.
  • Small Business Administration - we offer materials and direction. Especially useful is "Your Guide to Starting or Expanding a Small Business"

Excellence in Communication: Network and contribute!

  • E-mail Opportunities - over 500 of our members have e-mail and we encourage you to keep us informed about special events at your business so we can communicate it to our members.   Send announcements to news@cooperstownchamber.org.
  • Business After Hours Program - gives businesses an opportunity to invite Chamber and potential members to their place of business.  Great networking opportunities!
  • Member to Member Discount Program - an opportunity to communicate directly with other members about your business by offering a Chamber discount.
  • Merchants Committee - monthly (almost) meetings spawn ideas such as "Hare by Air," Candlelight Weekend in Cooperstown with B&B Tour and Luminary Stroll down Main Street, SnowFest, PumpkinFest and other events.

Effective Insurance Coverage: Over 400 subscribers have put their faith in us!

  • Medical Insurance - we offer the lowest insurance premiums in Otsego County. Our policies provide effective coverage for you, your family and your staff.  All policies offer a minimum of well care services and three offer 23 Free Services, And we service what we sell. Click here for details.
