Cooperstown is in central New York State, 70 miles west of Albany and 30 miles south of the New York State Thruway.

From the west or north:
Thruway Exit 30 at Herkimer, south on State Highway 28 to Cooperstown.
OR: from Exit 29, south on State Highway 80, south to Cooperstown

From the east or north:
Thruway Exit 25A, I-88 to Duanesburg, west on U.S. Highway 20 to State Highway 80, south on 80.

From the south:
I-88 from Binghamton, Exit 17, State Highway 28, north to Cooperstown.

From the southeast:
Thruway Exit 21 at Catskill, State Highway 23 west, State Highway 145 north, U.S. Highway 20 west, State Highway 80 south to Cooperstown.
OR: Thruway Exit 21, State Highway 23 west, I-88 east, Exit 17, State Highway 28 north to Cooperstown.

Pine Hills Trailways provides twice-a-day round trip service between Cooperstown and New York City's Port Authority Bus Terminal.
